COOGEE HOUSE

Location Coogee, NSW
Photos courtesy of McGrath Coogee

Originally built in the 1930s, this two-storey Art Deco-style duplex underwent a transformative renovation to create a modern, functional family home. The northern unit, originally a three-bedroom residence, was redesigned to accommodate five bedrooms, meeting the needs of a growing family.

Jakaan Architects retained the original Art Deco façade, preserving its historical charm, while adding a second storey to enhance the home's functionality and aesthetic appeal. The internal spaces were completely reimagined, featuring open-plan modern living areas and carefully curated finishes that blend contemporary design with the character of the original structure.

The client, impressed by our recent projects in the area, entrusted us to deliver a home that seamlessly balances heritage and modernity. The result is a sophisticated, spacious family home that honours its Art Deco roots while embracing contemporary living.
